The Liz Logelin Foundation 5k

"The Liz Logelin Foundation was established to assist families who find themselves in the heartbreaking, catastrophic situation of having lost a spouse, life-partner, and parent. The Foundation’s goal is to financially assist these families as they deal with the loss of their loved ones, and struggle to move forward. The Foundation was established in 2009 by Matthew Logelin, who lost his wife Elizabeth in 2008."

Sad right? But why am I telling you this?

Because I stumbled across Matt's blog one day as I have many others, by hopping from place to place and blog to blog. I read Matt's story. From the beginning. Took me days. Days and days and boxes and boxes of tissues later, I am making a commitment to help this man all I can on his journey.

How am I doing that you ask?

I'm participating in the first ever Liz Logelin Foundation 5k “Strolling Through the Garden of Awesome”.

I'm so excited about this...excited mainly that I can walk and don't have to actually RUN or anything. I'm excited that this man took a really crappy situation and turned it into something wonderful. I'm excited that he shares his life (and his absolutely precious) daughter with us.

Again, why am I telling you this? Well let me explain...

I need you to open your hearts...and your wallets, checkbooks, coin purses, piggy banks. I'm sure you get the idea. I'm going outside of my comfy zone and asking you to donate to the cause. It's tax-deductible and everything!

I can't imagine having to go to The Liz Logelin Foundation for help. I can't imagine losing my husband. I can't imagine how I'd survive it. Matt did though. He survived it (while taking care of a beautiful newborn baby girl) and made something good happen. I feel a small bit of peace in knowing that if something like that ever happened to me...if I ever needed it...Matt would have my back.

I'm just trying to do the same for him.

So, if you are interested in championing this cause with me, please leave me a comment and I will give you my mailing address...and my heartfelt thanks.

I've visited his blog a few times too. You have my interest. So, are you going up there on the 19th and driving back the same day?
And...we can't run? :)
