Looking For the Helpers

"When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping." To this day, especially in times of "disaster," I remember my mother's words and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers – so many caring people in this world."     ~ Fred Rogers

There is no sense to be made about the events in Connecticut yesterday. Twenty little lives were extinguished before they even had a chance to experience the world and six adults died trying to save them. My soul is shattered for them, the adults who tried to protect them, and for the families who will be forever changed by such a horrifying and senseless act.

I look at my children, especially my son who is four, and cannot even imagine the horror of one of them being taken from me.

All I can do is look for the helpers and pray for the gift of a peaceful mind and heart.

This is beautiful during a time that feels so ugly. Thank you, Jo. xo
